Neo Geo is really Coo-ol

View Hottest Exquisite Boutiques in a larger mapThis is my neogeographic map of boutiques in the mid Los Angeles area known as the Fairfax district. The map illustrates six of the most popular spots as well as a well known food place that is only a few minutes away walking. I chose to create a map of Fairfax because it is a location I spent an abudance of time and even more money to make sure I was one of the freshest people at my high school as well as the weekends. Also, I met a tremendous amount of people venturing through this part of LA for the past five years or so including celebrities,best friends, girlfriends and etc. I'm glad that Google Maps allows me to show a place that is dear to me and is a cool place to visit and shop--especially if you want to dress to impress. 

Neogeograpghic maps are fairly new to the world of geography and are used on a wide scale for various reasons whether someone wants to show a clothing district or even places they see on their walk from home. Neogeography is actually ground breaking when looked in depth because now anyone can create a map and being able to show someone exactly where to go and how to get there using UGI presented by Google. In addition, people can become more familiar with HTML and how to embed information if you really want to make your map pop. This is fantastic especially if you are looking forward to venturing into the world of geography because it allows you to get accustomed with new technology as well as the process of map making; if you are really advance or tech savvy you can take your skills to another level and create dynamic maps such as mapping gang areas of LA or spread of religion across the world! As a whole neogeography is opening doors for many people. 

However, there are some cons with neogeography because nothing is perfect. First, not everyone should make a map or may know how to make a map; this can lead to similar problems found with information being accessed on wikipedia it may be incorrect or no up to date. Most people don't make illegitimate maps like most don't purposely put false information on wikipedia and the internet but it does happen and it could lead you to some faults. Another con neogeography has is the technology, as we know no software is perfect is outlining the shape or terrain of the Earth this is err here and there so this can always pose problems on size and actual location of certain areas or places; satellites do help somewhat with this issue but for the most part the maps do have some parts that are off. Also, if someone isn't zoomed in enough or too far out they may not realize or be able to judge the distance of something for example this is seen with the maps of subway systems in Europe where France looks oh so close (walking distance) to England. Although, there are a few issues and I'm sure more will arise as new components are introduced  but the ability for any person to be able to get on a computer and be able to map out some points of interest, convey a trend or historical excursions/events is utterly remarkable and illustrates how far technology has come as well as geography!
